Celebrating the Success of the INTERCAMBIO + VET Project: Building Language Skills for Vocational Growth Across Europe

After two years of dedicated collaboration, we’re proud to announce the successful conclusion of the INTERCAMBIO + VET project, with our dear partners Capacity Ireland, The European Education & Learning Institute, Fondazione Villa Montesca, Third Sector International and Yuzu Pulse.

This innovative Erasmus+ initiative has brought together learners, educators, and employers across six European countries (Portugal, Ireland, Spain, France Greece and Italy), bridging the gap between language skills, vocational education, and the workplace.

Project Goals and Vision

The INTERCAMBIO + VET project was launched with a mission: to develop vocationally-focused language learning materials for learners in six key sectors—Ecology and Conservation, Third Sector, Cultural Heritage, Digital Media, Architecture and Building Envoirnment, and Creative Industries. By tailoring language resources specifically to these professional fields, the project aimed to provide VET students and professionals with the conversational skills necessary to thrive in their industries, especially in international and multilingual settings.

This goal aligns with the broader European objectives for enhancing employability, supporting cross-border professional mobility, and promoting cultural exchange. The project sought to address the need for practical language skills in specific career fields, ensuring that learners can engage with the growing international workforce with confidence and competence.

Achievements and Highlights

Throughout the project, our team at Synopsis, together with our European partners, has developed and piloted a range of learning resources, tools, and events:

• Sector-Specific Learning Materials: These language resources were created specifically for vocational contexts, enabling VET students and professionals to practice and improve their conversational skills in real-world, professional scenarios.

• Mobile App for Language Exchange: The project also saw the launch of a new mobile app that allows language exchange partners to validate each other’s learning, making it easier for participants to track their progress and stay motivated.

• Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs: The project introduced CPD training sessions for language educators, equipping them with new methods to teach vocationally specific language skills effectively.

In addition to these resources, we hosted language exchange events that brought together Erasmus+ participants and local learners. These gatherings fostered a lively environment for practicing language skills in real-time, providing feedback loops for our materials and offering learners an engaging and supportive space for growth.

Impact and Lasting Benefits

The INTERCAMBIO + VET project has had a meaningful impact at multiple levels:

In Lisbon, where Synopsis is based, local businesses and learners benefited from participating in the project. VET learners have acquired practical language skills applicable to their career goals, and employers will be able to work with interns and employees who bring added value with improved language capabilities.

On a European scale, the project has contributed to creating a network of language learners, educators, and employers across six EU Member States. This cross-border collaboration has strengthened our shared goal of developing future-ready professionals with the language skills needed to navigate an interconnected workforce.

These achievements reflect the hard work and commitment of everyone involved, from educators to learners and employers. The materials and tools developed will continue to be valuable resources for language education and vocational training within Synopsis Practice and for our partners across Europe.

Moving Forward

Though the project has officially ended, its legacy will live on through the continued use of these language resources and tools. Synopsis is committed to integrating the materials and app developed through this project into our ongoing Erasmus+ and VET programs, ensuring that future participants can benefit from these resources.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of INTERCAMBIO + VET. As we look ahead, we’re excited to see how these resources will continue to support learners across Europe, helping them build the skills needed to succeed in an ever-evolving workforce.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us! Stay tuned as we continue to promote language learning, vocational growth, and international collaboration
